NexDefense has announced that White House Infrastructure Advisor Tom Noonan has officially joined its board of directors. Noonan has an extensive history in cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and venture capitalism, and currently serves as the General Manager of EnergyWise Solutions at Cisco. Prior to that, Noonan was also co-founder and CEO of Internet Security System, later acquired by IBM.
“Over the past 14 years, Tom has been a personal mentor and sounding board and became an early advisor to NexDefense,” co-founder Derek Harp shares in the press release. “Over the past year his involvement has grown substantially and he has been instrumental to our progress over that year. We could not be more pleased to have his talent, expertise and experience in a formal capacity on our board.”
The announcement closely follows the completion of NexDefense’s latest funding round, in which they secured $2.4 million from Mosley Ventures and BIP Capital. NexDefense plans to use this latest funding for their commercial roll-out and product development for its software system, Sophia.
Along with their newest to the board, NexDefense has also added Graham Speake, Loney Crist and Preston Futrell to their executive team, with Crist and Futrell having previously worked with Noonan at Internet Security System for more than 10 years.
