Atlanta Startup Weekend Education (SWEDU) Atlanta hosted by the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology seeks to bring tech community voices and educator experiences front and center. These groups are in the best position as leaders in their respective fields to both name and design the solutions for the education system’s most critical challenges.
When: Friday, September 12 – 14, 2014 (Event starts at 5:30 pm)

Why: This event transcends the traditional Startup Weekend style; focusing on bridging the entrepreneurial startup spirit with technology experts and educators informed issues. Through design thinking, innovative business strategies, relentless hacking and designing, this weekend will produce new ventures that are poised to create high caliber outcomes for Atlanta Area students and schools.
Who: Anyone passionate in education is welcome to attend: educators, parents, students, entrepreneurs, developers, and designers who want to make to make a difference in education now.
Cost: Registration costs vary by your role: Educator, Designer, & Developer and day attending. Early Bird Ticket Prices are still available until Aug 22nd.
The 54th hour: At the end of the weekend, on SWEDU Atlanta’s 54th hour, teams will pitch their ideas for a tech tool that addresses a concern either in a school or in a student’s community. Teams will pitch in front of experienced professionals, with vested interests and proven results in their community and field. Ventures can range from a mobile app, a gaming console app, to online learning tools. We will be there to cover the final projects and report back. Stay tuned.
