Tech Talent South is ready to answer the question: Why Learn to Code? More and more people nowadays are turning to code development either as a change in career, or as a supplement to their current one. This workshop will present the case why learning to code is a good idea for your future (no matter where you are in your career), what you should learn, and finally, where you should learn it. Along the way, you’ll learn to distinguish between learning to code, and “programatic thinking,” and some keys to success.

About the Speaker:
Rich Zapata (photo above) has lived in Atlanta for the past 13 years, but is originally from Puerto Rico. He’s a graduate of UW-Madison with a degree in Info Systems (a mix of Accounting and Comp. Sci.). A database programmer by trade, he’s developed for a wide variety of databases, and he’s currently a Business Intelligence engineer for Cox Automotive. In his spare time, you can find Rich tinkering away at side projects (in Rails) for fun…and beer money.

Tech Talent South‘s mission is to develop more tech talent in the South through immersive beginner-focused programs teaching web development and computer programming. We want to do our part to help put Atlanta on the map as the next big tech hub and empower creative thinkers in the area with the skills they need to drive innovation. In addition to offering kids coding camps throughout the Southeast, Tech Talent South offers 8-week Code Immersion Program for adults in the Atlanta area. To date, there are over 60 Tech Talent South alumni in Atlanta doing BIG things.
About DeskHub:
DeskHub is located in the heart of Buckhead in Piedmont Center, Building 4. We offer open desk and private office space to entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses. DeskHub operates on a month to month agreement and all of our amenities are included in our membership – Wi-Fi, conference room access, print/copy capabilities, coffee/snacks, and lots of free parking. Our ground level location makes it easy to come and go as well as host clients. There is also a putting green and bocce ball court right outside!
