For the 3rd straight year, Atlanta will be partaking in the National Day of Civic Hacking. On June 6th, TAG and Code for Atlanta will once again team up for this amazing community experience. ThoughtWorks Atlanta (located at 1175 Peachtree St NE) will provide the brick & mortar for this meeting of the minds. This event has seen impressive success the last few years, and this year is slated to be even bigger and better.
The focus for this year’s occasion will be primarily on the development of Open Health Data. This focus is quite fitting, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is located Atlanta and will be hosting numerous events throughout the day. Some of their event topics include improvement of national reporting of mortality data, tobacco use in regards to secondhand smoke legalization, how climate change may impact health, and more.
While many will assume that a hacking event warrants mostly software developers to attend, TAG and Code for Atlanta also need help from:
- Designers
- Data analysts
- Project managers
- Subject-matter experts
Even though the event is more than 2 weeks away, the Atlanta Tech Village will be hosting a regular civic hack night on May 26th as a preview to the event on June 6th.
