Hip Hop Conference A3C Is Bringing Back Its Music Tech Track and Seeking Startups to Spotlight

A3C Music Tech

A3C Conference, the hip hop-focused event that brings together leaders in music, entrepreneurship, technology and social action, has announced a Future of Music Tech program to be held on October 5. The highlight of the day will be its second Startup Spotlight Showcase, for which applications open today.

Last year, A3C’s tech-focused track included panels and speakers from Pandora, Spotify, Instagram, Techstars and more discussing topics like the future of music streaming, the gasification of music and growing a music tech startup.

Panel topics for The Future of Music Tech track this year will include creating and collaborating, sharing and discovery, data, and distribution and monetization. A3C Executive Director Mike Walbert says they are building the programming around what up-and-coming artists, music industry players and audiences want to learn more about.

The Startup Spotlight will highlight the day by showcasing five young music tech companies. Last year saw over 70 applications, with the final five entrepreneurs traveling from as far as London to pitch their product to the crowd and develop connections with the hip hop community.

“We really want to provide a platform for startups in music tech to connect with music makers and the hip-hop music industry. Music tech startups are often working to solve a problem from personal experiences and are focused on building an product and bringing it to market,” Walbert told Hype last year.

For example, during the 2017 pitch, Miami-based music creation and collaboration app RecordGram (now Cre8tor.App) used the event to announce their transition to a cryptocurrency token-based payment system and an upcoming ICO.

The Startup Spotlight companies will receive passes to attend the rest of the A3C Conference as well.

“We hope music tech companies leave A3C with new partnerships, valuable insight from end-users and brand evangelists,” Walbert said.

Applications for A3C’s Startup Spotlight are now open and close on August 1.
