Charlotte’s Largest Hackathon to Focus On the City’s Healthcare Challenges

Since 2010, AI automation company Tresata has been using predictive analytics software to help companies better understand people, process, and product data at massive scale and with great precision.  In addition, Tresata has been bringing together coders, programmers, entrepreneurs, and hobbyist hacker to tackle big problems using this data. This year, Tresata will host its 7th annual HackathonCLT, a 24-hour community tech-fest which serves as a platform to highlight  Charlotte’s burgeoning and innovative tech ideas. HackathonCLT is the biggest hackathon event in the Queen City.

The stakes are massive, the data BIG, and the problems incredibly interesting

HackathonCLT sets itself apart by focusing on solving challenges in the social sphere — things that can actually change lives. Past challenges have addressed affordable housing, increasing food bank donations, and matching Big Brother, Big Sister pairs.

This year, HackathonCLT will tackle some of Charlotte’s most acute healthcare challenges to bring solutions to residents and public health agencies.

The event will award over $30,000 in prizes, as well as free food, drinks, and cool swag. Specific prizes related to each category will be announced at the kickoff party on March 22nd.

HackathonCLT is a team-based hackathon with three categories:

  • Hack: For purists, this category demands hacking, coding, and analytical talent. The winners will be judged on the quality of predictions and scalability of code that is able to solve the presented problem.
  • Code: Well, you got it. In order to win… you need to write some code. You can create anything from mobile applications to websites to everything in between, as long as it solves the relevant challenge.
  • Freestyle: This one is for those who can’t code (yet), but still dream about making the world a better place. Deliver a killer presentation backed by a solid, scalable business model that convincingly proves that you can solve the challenge, and you too can win.

The hackathon is FREE and open to participants and spectators from the community who want to cheer the teams on and see what a hackathon is all about. The fun kicks off Friday March 22, and continues overnight, culminating with the finale on March 23. Read more in the FAQ.

This year, HackathonCLT will be bigger, bolder and brasher. You don’t want to miss this — register here!
