Nashville’s MusicTech platform Soundstripe has a new CEO.
Atlanta-based entrepreneur and startup leader Jeff Perkins has been tapped to lead the Series B company that helps creators get quality music, stock videos, and sound effects they need to bring new media projects to life.
Perkins is a familiar face for those in the Atlanta startup ecosystem. An alumnus of Atlanta companies Autotrader and QASymphony (now called Tricentis), Perkins brings a strong background in sales, marketing, and go-to-market strategy. He joined ParkMobile in 2017 as CMO and Head of Product before serving as the parking technology platform’s CEO from 2021 to 2022.
Most recently, Perkins served as Chief Marketing Officer for Virtuous and Greenlight Guru. He also published a book How To Not Suck At Marketing in 2021.

Perkins initially connected with the Soundstripe team last year through Atlanta-based Overline VC, one of MusicTech’s investors. The Soundstripe founding team is made up of musicians and producers looking to build a more sustainable platform for creators. Perkins, though not a musician, said he deeply understands the challenges Soundstripe aims to address in the “highly complex and confusing world” of music licensing and the pain points faced by a company of its size.
The current makeup of the team includes over 60 employees spread out across the United States, many of whom are based in the company’s Nashville HQ.

Soundstripe got off the ground in 2016 with co-founders Travis Terrell, Trevor Hinesley, and Micah Sannan. The team most recently raised $9 million in Series B funding in 2022, a round that was led by private equity firm Topmark Partners.
Other investors in the platform include San Francisco-based Craft Ventures, Atlanta-based Vocap Partners, Atlanta-based Overline VC, Service Provider Capital, and Escalate Capital Partners, according to Crunchbase.
The platform provides a curated library of music that gives creators access to high-quality music, whether that be through their library, through securing licensing, or through custom pieces. The company is currently in beta on a new product and marketplace that will allow users to more easily access popular music options without having to navigate complex licensing agreements.
