Available Renaissance Man | Developer, Digital Marketer & Skilled in Finance

Thomas Weld is currently enrolled in the Full Time Code Immersion Class at Tech Talent South and is looking for his next challenge. He’s available to start working mid-March in a place where he can showcase his never ending list of marketing, problem solving, and technical skills. Check out his profile below and make him an offer. We need to keep this incredible tech talent in the South.

What class are you currently taking at Tech Talent South?
I’m currently enrolled in the Full Time Code Immersion Class and we’re learning Ruby on Rails, Domain Modeling, HTTP, “RESTful” Design, HTML/CSS, Javascript, AJAX and APIs.

What past tech projects have you worked on?
Prior to attending TTS I was working for an ecommerce and rewards company in Chattanooga called EnergyEarth. I was their Digital Marketing Manager. This meant I was in charge of Search Engine Optimization, Pay Per Click, Social Media Marketing, Analytics and Marketplaces like Amazon and eBay.

While I was there I was also working on another ecommerce project. In 2014 I launched the new and improved www.mindzai.net. I built out the products, site architecture and did all the custom HTML/CSS as well. This included some tweaks to clean up the responsiveness of the design. Mindzai helped me with the graphics and styling.

Currently I’m building an ecommerce site for BeATLab USA, a DJ and Producer Pro Shop in L5P. Launching soon!

What are your best technical or creative skills?
I tend to enjoy math and problem solving. Statistical Analysis, Finance, Algorithms, Formulas… etc. I majored in Finance and one of my favorite classes was called Financial Derivatives and Engineering. The course was all about the valuation of Futures and Options. It was my most difficult class, but I enjoyed the challenge.

When it comes to creativity, I think my greatest strengths lie in marketing and user experience. I worked in the service industry and I owned an event-promotion business in college so I think I have a good understanding of how to market people and gauge what it is that they want out of an experience. I try to come up with creative ways to achieve goals and produce outcomes that are mutually beneficial for all parties involved.

What’s next on your list to learn?
Javascript! I’m interested in learning more about js because it’s everywhere and you can do almost anything with it. Also, I’d like to sharpen my Photoshop and Illustrator skills because nobody wants to look at an ugly UI.

Interested in startups?
Depends on which one we’re talking about 😉

What’s your ideal internship/job?
My ideal job would be working on various projects and being met with new challenges on a regular basis. At this point in my career I’d love to work with a company where I can utilize my digital marketing skills as well as develop my programming skills under a great mentor.

When are you available to start?
I’m available to start working in mid March. I’m interested in positions in Atlanta and the SF Bay Area.
