Stephen Sabsowitz: Beer Geek Looking For The Next Big Thing

Looking for some unique, local tech talent? Who isn’t! Stephen Sabsowitz just finished the General Assembly course and has created various projects dealing with everything from drinking beer to working out (gotta work off that beer belly somehow). Check out his profile below.

What projects have you worked on during this course?
I worked on three separate projects during the course. The first project was BeerCellar, a Rails app that allowed users to search for a brewery or beer and view detailed information. If users wanted to save that beer/brewery, they could then add it to their cellar.

The second project was a group project: NextSet was a AngularJS app that allowed users to create custom workouts and record workout information.

For my final project, I created Traffic Hero. This is the app that I am most proud of. Traffic Hero uses Rails, AngularJS, Google Maps and Bing Maps APIs to provide users with a live traffic map (with geolocation). It also allows users to enter a origin and destination and view traffic information (congestion, distance, and time in traffic).

What are your best technical and/or creative skills?
I am very detail oriented and organized, so things like proper syntax and indentation are important to me. I have also learned that proper planning and taking your time are critical when working on a new project. Creatively, I am always trying to make something new. I try to keep my projects from following the same design patterns, and have rapidly developed my front-end skills as a result.

What’s next on your list to learn?
My next goal is to strengthen my Javascript and AngularJS.

What’s your ideal internship/job?
An ideal job would be somewhere I could build on my Rails and Javascript skill sets.
