Jennifer Pearson | Available Creative/Social Media Talent

Jennifer Pearson is a senior at Kennesaw State University and will be available to apply her killer technical and creative skills to an entry-level job in May. She’s majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Cultural Diversity Studies and has a background in social media, research and technical writing. She admires the creativity of individuals involved in startups and wants to start her career in Atlanta’s tech/startup ecosystem. Check out her profile below and keep her in mind when searching for some local talent.

What tech/creative projects are you currently working on?
I am currently interning as a content researcher and writer for the startup UDebate. I research trends within education in media and also assist in the management of the social media accounts. Recently, I have assisted in developing blog posts for the website and company blog. An admiration for startups was cultivated through this particular internship. I never knew how valuable creative individuals were in startups.

What past projects have you worked on?
I served as a social media manager for the Credential Group LLC which allows creative professionals within various industries to expand their networks. Assisting in content development, creating a schedule for social media, and implementing innovative strategies to increase engagement are my primary duties. This has been influential in the primary stages of branding myself as a content developer.

What are your best technical or creative skills?
My best technical skills are in social media expertise, research and technical writing. I am efficient in Hootsuite, various blogging platforms from medium to Wordpress, and design platforms ranging from Canva to Adobe Illustrator. Studying sociology has taught me the importance of extensive research and whom I will be researching. Research is beneficial to everyone and being able to articulate data is essential within a startup. So I guess my technical skills are pretty creative as well!

What’s next on your list to learn?
I am going to master more publishing platforms that I am not familiar with already as well as personal broadcasting tools. Studying particular platforms and being able to effectively use them to help a company progress is my ultimate goal.

Why the interest in startups?
You can wear many hats within startups and your expertise is valued. Also, you create the work culture and have the opportunity to shape it rather than step into something that is predetermined. I like the idea of having hands on experience and progressing with a team.

What’s your ideal entry-level job?
My ideal entry-level job would be anything along the lines of managing accounts and developing content for creative firms. I would love the ability to showcase my creative and technical skills to my colleagues and hopefully make a major impact in the startup scene. Ideally, everything that I would publish and design would have a quality and uniqueness that would be difficult to match. Almost everyone is social media savvy, but developing a distinct style that is memorable can be daunting. I’m ready to accept and conquer that challenge.

When are you available to start?
I am available to start at the beginning of May! I will turn in my final paper of my undergraduate career and immediately come to work.
