Who am I: I am a Technical Recruiter in Ionic Security’s Talent Acquisition department. I’ve been in the technical recruiting space for four years, and I’ve been working for Ionic Security since October 2014.
What attracted me to Ionic was the opportunity to be a part of building a company. In 2014, Ionic was around 30-35 engineers strong, and by the close of 2014, Ionic was up to just over 100 employees. I wanted the opportunity to continue to be a part of that growth and to be partially responsible for the successful growth of the company. I was also very interested in the passion of Adam Ghetti and all of the senior leadership at Ionic to seek more women to join our engineering staff.
Of our current employees, women make up less than 10% of our overall employee make-up. Of our engineering team of roughly 60 engineers, women are less than 5% of our workforce. But believe me, it’s not for lack of trying. I am active in some of the women’s meet-up groups, and I attend as many ‘women in technology’ type conferences that I can identify.
In fact, Ionic has some of the most flexible polices I’ve ever seen that help us attract and attain all of our talent.
For example:
+Flexible work hours. Meaning = Our core business hours are from 10am – 3pm. What that means for our employees – come in the office as early at 7am and head home at 3pm. Or come in as late as 10am and head home around 6 pm.
+Casual work environment. Jeans, t-shirts, flip-flops, beanies are all apart of the attire that you’ll see on any given day worn by all of our staff including our senior leadership.
+Unlimited vacation. What does that mean? I’m glad that you ponder such a question, because everybody does. We offer a truly UNLIMITED, PAID vacation policy. Whether you’re a new grad or senior level staff member, it’s the same policy for everyone. Work hard, play hard, and when you need to be off for family vacation, dance recitals, or just a day of R&R, no one is counting.
+Stocked break room including sodas, water, coconut water, chips, cliff bars, hummus, celery, etc. etc. Plus we usually have some meeting once a month where the office provides lunch for the team from some local awesome Atlanta restaurant or pizza joint.

I love my job. I love coming to work every day. It’s not only working with really great people, but it’s also the flexibility to take care of my personal responsibilities when they arise and know that I’ve got a team of people that I’m working for that understand that life happens.
