As we continue Hypepotamus Week, it’s time to turn the lens on Emily Detrick, a recent graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design . She wowed us with her portfolio (check it out here) and has been the creative energy behind a number of photography-centered projects we’ve completed this summer. Savannah College of Art and Design.

Storyteller.

What do you do for Hypepotamus?
I’m the photographer.
If you could have any mentor in the world who would that be and why?
J.R. He’s a photographer and street artist that is somehow able to change entire communities with his photography. Try not to cry when watching his TED talk “One year of turning the world inside out.”

American Suburb X, Facebook and Twitter.
What is one thing missing from your college experience?
I really enjoyed most of it, but I wish there was more opportunity to collaborate outside of your major. I had the chance to do this in 2 or 3 classes, but I wish it was a requirement for all classes.
