Alair Hallman is ready to take the startup world by storm, hoping to scoop a gig in digital marketing. Hallman is a multi-talented superstar – shining brighter than a diamond in journalism, social media, digital marketing, and communications. This self-admitted news nerd is eager to learn and won’t be around for long, so catch her while you can.

What’s your current role?
I am currently an analyst at a big data company.

What startup/tech projects have you worked on?
I have had the fortune of working for some amazing companies such as Q-100 Atlanta, Everywhere social media marketing firm and Modern Luxury Atlanta. With each company I served as a community manager, digital analyst, events marketer, and blogger.

What are your best technical or creative skills?
One skill I find both vital and fun to compile is digital auditing-both internally and for clients. Once I discover the client’s goal or message, I use a digital audit as a starting point. Insight is the foundation for which my creative ideas grow and evolve.

What tech/tools are essential to you?
I am a big advocate for Hootsuite. That is my go-to tool. It really keeps me organized when working with a client’s social channels. I also use staples like Google Docs, Google Alerts, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, and Wordpress.

How do you stay informed and on top of emerging trends?
I am a self-admitted news nerd. Whether it’s TV, websites, blogs, I still read the newspaper believe it or not. Any way I can get my hands on the news I do. While all of my friend and family are catching up on the latest Housewives episode, I’m listening to NPR. It’s pretty funny actually.

What’s next on your list to learn?
Currently, I’m digging deeper into analytics. I am developing a deeper understanding of Google Analytics and modernizing my digital marketing knowledge. I will be attending the digital marketing course at General Assembly in the fall. I’m very excited about that.

Why the interest in startups and the technology field?
I admire the technology field because of the freedom to be creative and unconventional. It also gives rich, team oriented opportunity to learn right beside company directors and owners. Team building opportunities are also an aspect of the tech world that is attractive to me. I want to create amazing innovative campaigns and then celebrate with my team members. That bonding makes the work even more fulfilling.

Interested in working for a startup, mid-sized company, or a corporate giant?
I would love to work for a startup, however, I would also work for a larger company with the same qualities a start-up company would have. It’s all about the environment for me. If the environments right, then I am committed.
