Co-working spaces are the cornerstone of the startup scene. They are a hub for networking, education and most importantly- getting your to-do list done when your Netflix queue is tempting you.
Strongbox West launched in late 2009, which makes them Atlanta’s longest running co-working space. They just opened a huge space located at 1040 West Marietta Street (right past King Plow), and will continue to cater to both startups and indie workers. From tech to design to marketing to accountants – everyone is welcome at Strongbox.
We caught up with Strongbox cofounder Amy Hoover to learn more about what the Box has to offer, starting with what led to the move.
We moved into a new, big-ass building January 1st. After being full, with a waiting list for space, for nearly two years at our first location (on Defoor Place), it was obvious to us that the community needed and wanted what we offer. We now have nearly 50,000 sq ft, along with 380 free parking spots.
Damn that’s a lot of space. Will it be a mix of office and community space?
Yes, we will have both office space and mixed-use space for community events. We are also planning a fully-equipped training area (up to 50 people), a green-screen studio, and an on-site coffee shop.
Types of Companies Here (SaaS, Dev Shops, Ecommerce, etc..):
It’s hard to list all the types of companies here – it runs the gamut and it’s far easier to say we welcome ALL types. The diversity in membership is one of our strongest suits.
How do you cater to early stage business?
We offer a very low cost of entry to early stage businesses. If someone just needs a place to come sit down for the day and work, it’s less than $200/mo for full 24/7 access. When there’s growth, we have office spaces that can accommodate teams of 20+ – and we have everything in between.
Average Resident Age:
We don’t ask people their age. 😉 We have recent grads and also members with kids already out of college.
Space Cost (range):
Membership plans start as low as $95 and private offices start as low as $450. All month to month.
Parking Availability:
FREE and plenty of it!
Host Events?:
Yes, we will be ready to start hosting community events in February, at no charge and based on availability.
