Inspiration Rippled at TEDxPeachtree

by Kiki Roeder

Hundreds of people ventured to the Ferst Center for the Arts for inspiration from fourteen speakers at TEDxPeachtree last Friday. Hosted by Dana Barrett, the 2015 conference represented the theme Ripple, delivering insights and awe with presenters covering topics from neuroscience to music and robotics.

“Attendees love having one day a year dedicated to getting away and stretching their minds, learning about topics that are bigger than themselves,” said Jacqui Chew, organizer and director of the board of TEDxPeachtree. “TEDx is part of a global community with people tuning in from all over the world. It is a fantastic platform for Atlanta’s most provocative and innovative to share impact with the world.”

The conference took nine months to plan, and featured speakers, video presentations, music, performances and an X-Zone, a community area where TEDx partners offered engaging demonstrations for participants.

Every year we have an amazing lineup of speakers, but as we grew into our seventh year  we really wanted to build beyond our spoken program. We married what was on stage with what happens in the X-Zone,” said Chew. “We were able to continue the narrative to the X-Zone with all types of activities, including a data visualization art project about the oceans that mirrored a topic presented by Dr. Alistair Dove.”
