Techstars, an accelerator program that empowers entrepreneurs to develop new technologies, has launched in Atlanta with thanks to Cox Enterprises. The mentorship-driven accelerator will be located in Ponce City Market, where ten selected startups will participate in a three-month, intensive experience.
Techstars Atlanta will welcome its first cohort in Summer 2016. The internationally recognized program will help boost early stage businesses and product development through expertise, funding and office space. Applications will be accepted from now through March 20, 2016.
The Atlanta program is specifically seeking applicants that are focused on social media platforms, cloud-based data, predictive analytics, and cybersecurity. Those selected will be showcased through a demo day, where approximately 100-200 venture capitalists and angel investors will learn about participants’ businesses.
Nearly 75 percent of graduates from existing markets received follow-on funding and/or became profitable soon after the program’s conclusion. Techstars has also operated in such cities as Austin, Boston, Berlin, Detroit, London, New York and Seattle, among others.
“With a dynamic startup community, Atlanta is a leader when it comes to innovation in the southern U.S.,” said Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Techstars David Brown. “We are excited to partner with Cox Enterprises to rally the broader Atlanta business community around this powerful and fast-growing startup community.”
