PorterLogic, the Atlanta-based supply chain startup that helps companies best prepare and forecast our inventory levels, has been acquired.
The low-code software company announced this week it was acquired by Lucasys, another Atlanta-based firm, a technology-enabled service provider focused on helping finance, accounting, and tax professionals.
With the acquisition, Lucasys will acquire PorterLogic’s platform, team, and existing customers, according to a press release. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
PorterLogic was built under the leadership of Jonathan Porter, Founder and CPO/CTO, and Anya Skomorokhova, co-founder and CEO. Porter and Skomorokhova, two Georgia Tech graduates, worked with Lucasys’ CTO at a previous startup, and then worked with the Lucasys’ team during 2020 and 2022 while Porter was working on PorterLogic on the side.
“Lucasys’ CEO Vadim and I had chatted at various points over time about a strategic investment, but it was not until earlier this year that we got serious about acquisition talks. You’re going to think I am making this up, but true story: my partner and I got a dog last year (Wafels the corgi), and we wanted to send out holiday cards featuring Wafels, so I had reached out to Lucasys’ CEO and CTO to get their addresses to send cards. That led to us catching up and mentioning the timing may be right for an acquisition,” Porter told Hypepotamus.
He said that it was the “cultural synergies” between Lucasys and PorterLogic that made it the right partners for an acquisition.
The acquisition is structured to ensure continuity for PorterLogic’s customers, with no disruption to their current services, according to a press release.
PorterLogic Over The Years
PorterLogic’s team remained lean and “super scrappy” over its early stages, having five full-time employees, Porter added.
The company is one of several supply chain-focused startups that have scaled in Atlanta over the last five years. The startup pitched at Venture Atlanta in 2022, was named Scrappiest Startup at the Atlanta Startup Awards, and was an Accelerate Portfolio company at ATDC.
The team took on capital from TitletownTech in 2023.
“PorterLogic’s journey—from its founding in 2020 to its recognition as a top supply chain tech innovator and startup of the year—has been marked by strong support from customers, partners, and the startup community. “We want to thank so many people for their incredible support through our journey,” Skomorokhova said in a press release. “We’re excited for this next phase as part of Lucasys, where the team will continue to innovate and deliver exceptional solutions together.”
