Civic Accelerator Accepting Fall Applications

by Tim Adkins

The Points of Light Civic Accelerator Announces Open Application for fall 2014 Program.

We’re pivoting our challenge a bit and asking: How might we develop new pathways and increase access to economic opportunity for all?

The Civic Accelerator will host 12-15 innovative social ventures that are working to create greater, more accessible pathways to economic opportunity in communities across the U.S. The 12 week startup boot camp will convene for three, in-person, weeklong sessions in Atlanta, San Francisco and Chicago, in addition to providing a virtual curriculum in between gatherings. The participating ventures themselves will select the two ventures that will receive $50,000 investments. Take a look at the spring 2014 winners here.

The potential solutions are many. From interventions in early childhood education and veteran re-entry, to financial literacy and 21st century skills development, we are interested in exploring a range of solutions and approaches together. We’re looking for innovative technologies, platforms, and other models that create positive economic outcomes for the communities in which they operate. Find out if you are eligible to participate, and follow us on Facebook (facebook.com/civicaccelerator) and twitter (@civicacceleratr – #civicX) to get in the conversation.
