Looking Fierce as a Ramblin’ Wreck

Georgia Tech industrial design students Maren Sonne, Jordan Thomas, and Julia Brooks took on the challenge to design a pair of shoes for their fellow student Maggie Bridges, Miss Georgia 2014. They used laser-cutting and 3D-printing to design shoes representing their school official mascot, a 1930 Ford Model A–the Ramblin’ Wreck. Four weeks and $400 later, the team had created a glittery, gold masterpiece… well, two of them.

Bridges was the first contestant to ever wear a pair of 3D printed shoes in the legendary “Show Us Your Shoes” portion of the Miss America Pageant.
