The Iron Yard Offers Free Classes For Kids… What’s Cooler Than a Coding Kid?

by Klaire Wesolowski

The Iron Yard believes in investing in the local tech economy for the long run, and that means impacting the next generation through the Iron Yard Kids Academy. How do they plan on doing this? By offering a full schedule of free classes for the spring. Each class will be capped at 15 students and will meet once a week for one hour per session. All classes will be held at 6:00 PM at the M. Rich Center in downtown Atlanta.

The Fundamentals of Programming class is open to children ages 8-12 and uses a programming tool called Scratch that will help children learn. This class will take place on Tuesdays from February 10 – March 3.

The Fundamentals of Web Design Using HTML and CSS class is open to ages 13-18 and will help teens build a personal homepage while learning the fundamentals of web design. This class will take place on Wednesdays from February 10 – March 18.
