Hannibal AI is using an ancient philosophy for AI innovation

Atlanta based tech startup Hannibal AI aims to solve complex business problems for clients with strategic development and use of AI — but with a unique guiding philosophy.

Created by co-founders Paul Wallace (CEO) and Levi Perkins (CTO), alongside Georgii Speakman (Senior Partner), Hannibal AI’s vision is guided by the philosophies of Hannibal Barca, who famously crossed the Alps with his army and war elephants to invade Italy. Much like Hannibal, the startup  team aims to surprise and defeat opponents.

“Hannibal’s motto when conquering was one little village at a time. So that is what we are doing with our products. We take one niche opportunity in a multibillion dollar market and we build a product that is outperforming larger companies. Our goal is to do that as many times as possible across all industries,” said Wallace.

So far, Hannibal has entered a variety of industries, including medical with OrthoScribe, HR/Recruiting with Autonomous Recruiter and home maintenance/management with House Binder. These custom AI solutions, built by Hannibal’s team of engineers, are the end result of the “AI Blueprint” process.

Behind The AI Blueprint

The “AI Blueprint” is Hannibal’s client experience from start to solution, from identification of the client’s values and needs, possible solutions and roadmap development through to prescribing and/or building an AI solution.

“We come in and really try to understand what our clients are trying to do as a business, what makes them money or saves them time. That’s probably why we are able to execute a lot faster and better. It doesn’t have to be revolutionary tech to revolutionize your business,” said Perkins.

The AI industry was valued at 196.63 billion in 2023 with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37.3% from 2023 to 2030,

Perkins says Hannibal’s strategy has prepared them to enter this multi-billion dollar industry despite being a much smaller company with less funding than tech giants, like Google and Microsoft, who are already dominating the space.

“Our team just outperformed a $5 billion Microsoft product to the point where we have a practice of 50 physicians writing a case study after doing a live demo of the Microsoft product, and then our product, because we blew it out of the water. Microsoft started eight years ago, we started six months ago,” said Wallace. “There’s a reason we are able to execute and deliver a lot faster than these massive tech companies. I think a lot of it lies in our ethos, and where we start clients.”

To date, Hannibal has been entirely revenue-funded without external investment. However, the Hannibal team envisions a future with strategic partners and investors.

“We want to attract smart investors that actually understand our vision and are passionate about not just AI and its future, but the specific projects we are undertaking,” said Speakmann. “Our sweet spot is building custom AI models, where we are potentially taking equity in those projects with our key partners and scaling those businesses.
