Dragon Army, one of Atlanta’s top-ranked mobile development and design agencies, has tripled in size over the last year and, with a new 12,000+ square foot office on the Atlanta BeltLine, plans to double again. But founder and CEO Jeff Hilimire is just as concerned about building a pipeline of diverse employees as he is about those traditional growth metrics.
As part of the Georgia State University Robinson College of Business’s Marketing RoundTable, an invitation-only group that includes
marketing leaders of organizations like the Atlanta Hawks, Delta, and MailChimp, Dragon Army helps fund a scholarship for outstanding minority students at GSU. The agency also hosts students for internships during the school year and summer to give them real-world exposure to what it’s like to work at an firm whose clients include the likes of Coca-Cola, Home Depot, IHG, Turner, Red Bull, and more.
But Hilimire wanted to do more, so this month, Dragon Army has solidified a commitment to hire at least one recipient of GSU’s Outstanding Minority Scholarship Program each year, for the next three years, in a full-time role.
“We are proud to help fund GSU’s Marketing RoundTable Outstanding Minority Scholarship program, but we wanted to take our participation one step further by helping these students find jobs,” says Hilimire. “Jobs are what they really want.”
According to Jessica Carruth, Dragon Army’s Director of Corporate Communications, the company hopes that this commitment will inspire other local employers.
Hilimire agrees. “We hope many more companies will sign on to do the same,” he says.
All of Dragon Army’s new hires will integrate with the current 43 employees in their new two-floor office on Willoughby in Old Fourth Ward. They plan to add 40 in engineering, design, sales and account management in 2018.
