Douglasville-based cloud and data center service provider Lume has announced the closing of a $4.3 million investment round led by BaseCamp Capital LLC intended to support its cloud-based offerings and expand the market presence of the company’s Cloud Anyware™ and edge data center solutions. The round brings the company’s total investment to $5.4 million, according to Crunchbase.
Although BaseCamp Capital LLC led the round, several individual investors also participated, including John Schanz, former executive vice president and chief network officer at Comcast and former Earthlink president/COO Joe Wetzel. TierPoint co-founder Octavio Morales and former Cisco senior executive Mark Mendes took part as well. Morales will also join Lume’s board of directors.
“This investor support serves as great validation of what Lume has accomplished,” Morales said in a statement. “It also serves as a significant reminder of the company’s market traction and the ongoing support of their client base. Together, we have an opportunity to continue to assist businesses with their mission critical cloud infrastructures, while keeping pace with, and growing with the market as it continues to thrive.”
Lume helps businesses navigate the labyrinthine process of figuring out what cloud solution may work best for them via the company’s Cloud Fit™ model – a set of evaluation criteria and tools used to help customers understand exactly what they need and ultimately choose the best solution for their business.
Lume’s Cloud Anyware™ solution suite lets customers mix and match the public and private cloud services they may need for each of its applications. The service also provides a single point of service for management, monitoring, and support across all of their clients’ infrastructure. Once clients choose what infrastructures they want to use — selecting between private, public, and hybrid clouds as well as on-premise and dedicated servers — they can add professional IT services like antivirus and patch management, load balancing, and managed security before choosing the edge data center location they want to host the environment.
“Companies are looking to the cloud to unburden their organization of capital expense, ease complex IT infrastructure management, and ultimately help them be more flexible to focus on their core business,” Lume CEO Kyle Verzello said in a statement. “We help companies consider all infrastructure options available to them and work with them to optimize the right solution for cost, performance, and security.”
“Our business mandates highly secure, scalable, and high performing infrastructure in multiple data center locations with 24/7 technical support,” Ed Moon, partner at forensics and legal technology firm Resolution Economics LLC, said in a client testimonial. “Lume has designed and implemented numerous cutting-edge custom solutions such as legal technology solutions, ultra-high speed file transfer technology, and virtual data room to meet our rapidly growing business needs.”
“This financial partnership with BaseCamp … will help us fulfill our vision for delivering edge cloud solutions and execute our growth strategy much faster,” said Verzello.
