Once in a while, you need a break from the hustle — to reconnect and recharge. Team building doesn’t have to be boring, though. Here, at Hype, we’re partial to happy hours (exhibit A) and talks about travel. From bowling three strikes in a row to hanging out with pups, Atlanta has many in town retreats, where your team can have a little fun together. Here are some of our favorites.

Topgolf | Atlanta, Ga.
Full-service bar, rooftop terrace, and room for 12 or more, sign us up! Topgolf doesn’t require you to be the next Tiger Woods. Practice your aim by swinging a club and trying to hit your microchipped balls into targets. Make it competitive with your team by reserving your spot and enjoying three hours of relaxation and good energy.

Whirlyball Atlanta | Roswell, Ga.
We can’t talk about team building retreats without mentioning Whirlyball Atlanta. Whirlyball is fun yet effective at building trust and sportsmanship among team members. The teams work together, no matter what their division is within the company, to win it all. It’s a fun way to get face time with other team members you never interact with. Best yet, if you’re not a planner, reach out to the Whirlyball team as they would be happy to fix up all of the details for you. They can accommodate groups of up to 20 people in the bumper cars.

Brewery tastings | Various locations
Our city is full of great breweries that are growing, just like our startup scene. Organize a group tour for your small team and learn more about what makes their hops pop. While we’re partial to Orpheus Brewing near Piedmont Park, you can also visit Three Taverns or Wild Heaven in Decatur and many others. Some of these breweries also allow dogs and have great spaces to enjoy a brew after a long day at work.
Ponce City Market’s Skyline Park | Atlanta, Ga.
An amusement park with one of the best views in the city? Yes, please. Head up to PCM’s Skyline Park for a night of mini golf and fun. The park has food and drinks available to refuel while you beat your team at the games of skill. Maybe you’re more of a thrill-seeker and prefer the tall slide or heege tower. You can reserve the park for large team get-togethers or small teams. There’s something here for everyone.

PAWS Atlanta | Atlanta, Ga.
PAWS Atlanta works hard to keep homeless dogs and cats off the streets. This no-kill shelter can’t do it without volunteers, though. If four-legged animals are your weakness, put together a small team and head over to socialize with the dogs or work at the cat cottage. It’s a great way to give back while still bonding with your startup team members. Did we mention puppy cuddles?

Escape the Room | Atlanta, Ga.
Escape the Room is perfect to escape the highs and lows of startup life. Through teamwork and collaboration, your team members will find hidden clues and solve puzzles within one hour to be able to “escape the room.” With a maximum of 12 team members, it’s a good getaway for small, tight-knit teams.

Sky Zone | Roswell, Ga. (and soon, Decatur, Ga.)
The world’s first indoor trampoline park wants you to jump, jump, jump around! Sky Zone is equipped with several interactive trampoline platforms for your team to unwind after a long day’s work. You can also book their private room to store your belongings as well as order pizza for post-jumping.

Comet Pub and Lanes | Decatur, Ga.
The revamped bowling alley in Downtown Decatur comes from the minds behind Twain’s. The new space now has swanky new lanes, a full menu with pizza, burgers and more, and of course, a hefty list of craft brews. You can reserve a few lanes (each lane fits 6) for your team, get a bit competitive, and blow off some steam. They also have shuffleboard available for those who feel like bowling is lame.
Atlanta Rocks! | Atlanta, Ga.
Atlanta Rocks! has fun team building exercises through rock climbing. From climbing competition to speed climbing and Traverse Tag, they can customize your climbing retreat to your needs. Under one package, harnesses and shoes for all of those participating. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned climber, sign up so you can earn your bragging rights as you make it to the top.
