The contest, which follows a tournament-style format, pits startups against each other for three levels until a winner is chosen. In order to qualify, applicants must be legal residents of Georgia and startups can not have raised more than $500,000 in funding. The winner of the competition will receive a $50,000 non-dilutive cash grant, and $350,000 in in legal, marketing accounting and other professional services will be awarded to the top 4 startups.
All entrants will receive exposure to most of the angels and seed stage funders in the state. The top 25 startups will receive in-person mentoring and feedback on their strategy and pitches, and the very top picks will also get seeded slots to pitch at other key events like Venture Atlanta.
The volunteer planning committee for this year includes Sig Mosley (Mosley Ventures), Allyson Eman (Venture Atlanta), Melanie Leeth (Imlay), Allen Moseley (Noro Moseley), Katie Kirkpatrick (Atlanta Chamber), Keith McGreggor (GaTech VentureLab), Michael Hersh (GaTech ATDC), Blake Patton (Tech Square Ventures), Jeff McConnell, Jacqui Chew, Martin Tilson, Joan Herbig, Michael Price, and many other dedicated volunteers. Several ATA members and key executives are also helping with the mentoring.
