ACCOUNT MANAGER: A Client Champion
Let’s face it: the Internet can be a scary place. Long before the Age of the Internet, the sea used to be a scary place, too. Sailors and fishermen swore it was filled with mermaids and monsters and, if you sailed far enough, that you’d sail right off the edge of the world.
We know that’s not true because better science, better technology, and better communication have yielded the facts: there are no mermaids or sea monsters, and the earth is not flat. But what sounds crazy to us now was not so crazy to well-intentioned sea-folk of yore. People just didn’t know any better until they got better facts.
Now, in the Age of the Internet, we surf the web on our laptops and smart phones. We have users of various knowledge levels who may recognize the proverbial penguin as a mermaid. Still, there are others who know better. You get the idea. We also hear tales of hackers, identity thieves, and nefarious black hat government cyber attacks. Yes, on this Internet sea, there be monsters.
And what we see, day in and day out, is that these clients need a benevolent captain to help them navigate the rough waters and guide them through…and help them to distinguish a penguin from a mermaid…and stuff. They need someone who can call on them to make sure they are okay, before they even start to worry if they are. They need a hand to hold, a number to dial, and a calming voice who can speak to their fears and allay them. They need a guide, a partner, and a friend on this sea journey.
They need a champion. And that champion could be you.

What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking a Client Champion with a minimum of two years experience managing client accounts in a fast-paced, software development-oriented environment. Candidates should have a gregarious personality and a confident, well-spoken, and calming presence, both in written and verbal communication. Candidates must be extroverted and driven by the success of maintaining positive, proactive client relationships.
Required Skills and Competencies:
A minimum of 2 years experience in account management. Specific experience in software development or agile environments are a plus.
A demonstrated ability to build relational rapport with clients, to think for client’s needs proactively, to communicate timing and deadlines clearly, so set expectations appropriately, and to always seem available as a friendly voice of reason, both in person, in written communication, and on the phone.
We require that applicants speak proficient english and be extremely articulate–even artful–with its use.
A high-level working knowledge of the development process and associated terminology and applications is a plus.
A demonstrated experience in taking ownership of projects, taking the initiative, and serving others, whether teammates or clients.
A demonstrated experience managing client expectations and communicating scope, updates, and changes.
Sherlock-style analytical and problem solving skills, particularly when it comes to communication and organization.
