The Controller is a hands-on leader with a primary focus on general financial functions of the business, financial analysis, cost accounting and capital spending. The primary responsibilities for this team member/the function will include:

Ensuring adequate systems of internal control are in place and that processes are consistent, efficient, and cost effective.
Take on a consultative approach to working with management to identify opportunities for financial/business efficiencies.
Continuously develop, execute, and implement improvements in financial management including the documentation and streamlining of processes to leverage technologies and improve efficiencies.
The Controller must be a highly motivated, ambitious individual. This person should be inquisitive with an investigative mindset, possess a natural intellectual curiosity and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The individual should have a demonstrated track record of success and possess a strong desire to learn and grow professionally. They must be a team oriented leader with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.


Duties & Responsibilities and % of time

Establish, maintain and ensure the effectiveness of and compliance with internal controls/ which verify the integrity of all financial processes and data. 20%
Direct and participate In the quarterly financial closing process and prepare/review the financial reporting package for management discussion/analysis. 10%
Manage and report on working capital, inventory management and variance analysis. 20%
Lead the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts and ensure the monthly evaluation of performance relative to projections 10%
Participate in leadership meetings and effectively communicate and interpret financial results to other managers. 5%
Consult with and advise senior management in future decision-making regarding efficiencies and cost improvements (ie, purchasing, inventory management, etc) 15%
Advise on process improvements, set policy and institute changes as required with regard to effective financial management 5%
Work with the leadership to provide guidance and support on financial issues and processes and bridge communications between Finance and Operations


Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.

• A CPA or CMA is a plus.

– Intermediate Excel skills to include VLOOKUPS, IF Statements and Pivot tables

• Additional consideration given to other evidence of on-going professional development.

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management including 2-3 years in a supervisory role.

• Manufacturing experience is required with a strong preference toward cost accountlng.

• Experience in Financial analysis.

• A demonstrated track record of competence and experience in managing accounts payables, receivables,financial reporting, payroll/ etc.

• Strong computer literacy with expertise in ERP and other computer related systems such as Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with FASB and GAAP standards

• A track record of timely consolidation of financial reports while ensuring accuracy and consistency,

• KnowIedge of and/or experience with a private family owned company is a plus
