We are hiring a Head of Product Development. This is a full-time role that will work closely with our Head of Strategy and Head of Operations to manage an overall team and business operations as our early-stage startup prepares to scale our product and user base. Consider this role as a blend of Chief of Technology and Chief of Product for an early stage B2B and B2G company with a small team.

We are looking for a candidate who has extensive experience leading a team, managing technical projects, and actively working to create change. Our team is virtual and based in New York City. We don’t have set hours –rather, we focus on milestones. We are open-minded, solutions-driven, and totally into research and data. Be ready to work with a fast-paced team. ∙Hire & build an engineering team that is driven by the co:census mission and vision

∙Work with individual engineers to define career goals and align their ambitions with relevant projects and tasks

∙Guide the team on architecting and authoring services across our platform that enables co:census to achieve their goals

∙Improve the scalability and efficiency of our infrastructure

∙Collaborate with other teams to get ahead of cross-team dependencies

∙Contribute to engineering team-wide process improvements and automation

∙Base all sprints on current user feedback and ensure strong delivery of deadlines

∙Own the research & development process for all of our IP – including patent development

∙Be a technical resource for our engineering team

∙Have experience with NLP and be ready to take over on day 1

∙Actively participate in business development as requested


∙3+ years of management experience

∙Strong writing and communication skills with a demonstration of working asynchronously

∙You are versatile and comfortable working on different parts of the stack

∙You don’t mind jumping into unfamiliar territory occasionally

∙You seek and prefer simple solutions to complex problems

∙You maintain a healthy balance between perfectionism and actually getting stuff done

∙You love developing software

∙You have 3+ years of industry experience

∙You are a strong team player and enjoy collaborating with others

∙Previous experience hiring technical talent ∙Experience with Golang, Python, and Azure work environments

∙Bonus points for experience with MySQL and Maria DB
