About the job
Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel. At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes. On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft. Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.

We’re seeking a seasoned and strategic Vice President of People to join our team who can navigate the dynamic complexities of human resources and talent management with finesse, seriousness, and commitment to the team’s success.

As the Vice President of People, you’ll be the architect of our human capital strategy. You’ll ensure that our team is operating at the peak of its potential, attracting the rarest talent in the industry, and developing the next generation of aerospace leaders. Leverage your track record of developing raw talent and delivering teams that execute at the highest level to solve one of the hardest engineering problems in the world.

Responsibilities

Unleash the potential: You’ll design and implement a people strategy that unlocks the full potential of our team. From talent acquisition to performance management, you’ll ensure that our employees are motivated, engaged, and equipped to excel

Scale a generational team: Make no mistake, what we have set out to do is only possible with a team that comes along once in a lifetime. You’ll be responsible for attracting and retaining not just the best talent in the industry, but molding them into the right team. You’ll build a recruitment strategy that identifies and captivates the very best professionals across all disciplines of the business

Develop leaders: We’re not just building hypersonic aircraft, we’re forging future leaders. You’ll spearhead leadership development programs that level-up our individual contributors, and transform our managers into trailblazers. Through coaching and mentorship, you’ll nurture a generation of bold decision-makers who can navigate even the most uncertain environments to deliver results

Foster a winning culture: Our success hinges on a culture that breeds collaboration, innovation, and seriousness. You’ll create an environment where individuals feel empowered, inspired, and supported. In short, you’ll be the architect of our cultural DNA

Forge an HR powerhouse: Ensure the organization complies with relevant labor laws, regulations, and best practices for high-functioning organizations in a way that reinforces our culture, enabling the team’s speed, teamwork, and accountability

Compensation mastery: Like any winning formula, our compensation and benefits strategy needs to be fine-tuned. You’ll work closely with the executive team to ensure our packages are not just competitive, but compelling. Your expertise will be pivotal in attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry
Navigate the challenges: No mission is without its challenges, and you’ll be our guide through the turbulent waters of employee relations and conflict resolution. You’ll deftly handle grievances and maintain a harmonious work environment, all while staying true to our core virtues
