Do Something Good

As the Hands On Atlanta Community and Civic Engagement Manager, you’ll lead our efforts to recruit, support and retain volunteers across a portfolio of programs. You’ll be responsible for managing our storied Civic Leadership Program, building and maintaining our community of volunteer leaders and leading our general volunteer support and civic engagement efforts. Your work will directly support our community impact, where we mobilize 15,000 people in 135,000 hours of service annually.

Civic Leadership Program Management

  • Work with the Community & Civic Engagement (CCE) team to recruit, train, and manage Civic Fellows to support partner nonprofits/schools
  • Create and facilitate a 7-month professional development curriculum, including virtual and in-person workshops and trainings
  • Manage and engage alumni through a mentorship program and events
  • Partner with our Nonprofit Services Team to build relationships with participating nonprofit/school partners

Volunteer Leaders

  • Maintain and grow our community of volunteer leaders (aka Task Leaders)
  • Host trainings, workshop and social engagement events and opportunities
  • Work with our development team to support our Days of Service (Hands On Atlanta Week, MLK Days of Service)

Community Support + Engagement

  • Lead support efforts to answer volunteer questions and addressing issues
  • Facilitate letters and verification for mandatory service hours
  • Engage volunteers across phone, email, live chat and our social channels
  • Create content for our blog, newsletter and social channels
  • Participate in recruiting events, socials and workshops
  • Monitor, analyze and share themes and learnings from our digital community

The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset and is interested in engaging and growing our community of civically engaged Atlantans through high touch, scalable communications and community management. You might describe yourself as ambitious, gritty, resourceful, and a positive force for change.

You have:

  • Knowledge of volunteer/user recruitment, management, and recognition best practices
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and can own your programs and their growth
  • The ability to manage logistics and balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, over the phone and in writing)
  • The ability to facilitate trainings and workshops (virtually and in-person) and enjoy public speaking
  • An eagerness to learn, contribute, and grow
  • A “level head” that is calm, collaborative, and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Basic graphic design skills (you’ve mastered Canva)
  • Experience with CRM’s and help desk software (Salesforce, Zendesk, etc.)

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field
  • 3+ years of experience managing communities (online or in person)
  • 2+ years experience managing business social media accounts
  • Reliable transportation and ability to navigate/travel in and around greater Atlanta
  • An understanding of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Passion for service and civic engagement (our story, mission, and vision here)
