The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) is looking for a talented and results driven individual to manage and grow Cherokee’s startup community, foster connections, and spearhead a multitude of valuable entrepreneur-centric programs. Passionate about entrepreneurs, this individual should be a creator, leader, and self-starter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and associate Cherokee County entrepreneurs with the Atlanta startup ecosystem
    Scale and expand support programs under the Fresh Start Cherokee umbrella including but not limited to:North Atlanta Venture Mentoring Service (NAV)
  • 1 Million Cups (1MC)
  • Lunch Circuit
  • Bring the entrepreneur community together through planning, and hosting high-impact events
  • Manage and grow The Circuit – a collaborative space for entrepreneurs, students, and young professionals – by generating leads, conducting tours, and telling the story of Cherokee’s community growth strategy
  • Manage social media outlets for pertinent efforts
  • Contribute to COED marketing efforts
  • Refresh and manage related websites
  • Expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cherokee County
  • Build upon strategies identified in the Cherokee By Choice Plan
  • Report progress with metrics-driven results to president
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in event planning
  • Experience with the startup ecosystem
  • Knowledge of small business development resources and networks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to manage multiple priorities to meet goals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline
  • Experience as a startup founder, business development professional, customer success agent, or another customer-facing role
  • Experience developing strategy and executing plan to meet objectives
  • Business model development experience
  • Working knowledge of how entrepreneurial ecosystems and economic development collide
  • Ability to develop and manage a community of volunteers
