Startup Games to Play Up ATL Companies’ Competitive Nature

Calling all startups! Are you the best ping pong player in your office? Take those skills to the big leagues with Startup Games this January. In partnership with Startup Atlanta, Startup Games brings the competition all the way from Austin, ready to pump Atlanta’s thriving startup community for a field day of fun and philanthropy.

“We are excited to launch Startup Games in Atlanta and celebrate the culture of innovation and dedication to the community,” says Sara Reeves, Startup Games Executive Director. “The local tech community is already doing amazing, innovative work in this city. Startup Games is working with these companies to engage their employees and give back to the community in a way that is unique to startup culture.”

The event will be held on Sunday, January 29 at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. Eight local startups will choose a team of 20+ superstar employees to participate in games like beer pong, flip cup, trivia, ping pong, giant jenga, and more. Got a small team? No worries, just partner up with other startups to make a joint team.

ping-pongEach Startup Games field day aims to donate a predisposed amount to various nonprofits. In the last five years, Startup Games has raised $275K in Austin. In Atlanta, the roster is already filling up with big wigs like SalesLoft (Sign up here!) and the organization is hoping to donate a minimum of $1,000 to local nonprofits, for a total of $25,000. The first, second and third place winners’ nonprofits will get the largest percentage of the money raised.

“Startups are in a unique position to innovate, not just in their products and the way they do business, but also in the way they engage their employees and give back to the community,” says Reeves.
