Hackers and Startups Come Together For ATDC’s First Annual Hackathon

The Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech is hosting their first annual Weekend Hackathon. Unlike traditional hackathons, the ATDC event will feature Atlanta-based startups pitching their problems to teams of developers, who will compete for cash and other prizes to create the most innovative, creative solution.

“We think this weekend will be a great opportunity to connect local developers to the Atlanta startup community. For the hackers, this is a chance to work directly with the leaders of some of Atlanta’s most innovative companies, exposing them to opportunities within the companies, and providing a view into the life of a startup.” explains Jennifer Bonnett, Assistant Director, Education & Community Outreach for ATDC.

Sponsored by BLH Ventures, Focus Brands, Yogli Mogli, Elev8 Staffing and General Assembly, the hackathon takes place August 28th to 30th at the ATDC. Teams will reconvene on Tuesday, September 1st to present their solutions to a panel of judges including Kat Cole, President of Focus Brands, Tricia Whitlock, Editor of Hypepotamus, and Michael Tavani, Co-Founder of Scoutmob, and Founder of coworking space Switchyards.

Hackers will have all meals provided throughout the weekend by Focus Brands and snacks provided by Yogli Mogli. The winning team will earn a cash award, and additional prizes.

“We’re very excited to be a part of the ATDC Weekend Hackathon” says Everett Steele, Founder of Kanga Technology. “One of our ongoing needs is exposure to talented developers, and we feel like this is a fantastic opportunity to both meet new potential team members, and to work on a new feature for our SaaS platform.”

Participating company teams include ReScour, Kanga Technology, Crowd Clap, First Performance, Florence Healthcare, Synapp.io and more. To sign up as a participant, visit http://bit.ly/1M3eeZe. To apply for your company to pitch your need, visit http://bit.ly/1hhYO81.
