Storm the Road Hack for Safety needs your help to create a new app or feature for mobile or web that helps to keep the public safe and informed.
The hackathon will bring together maps and weather – two topics consumers seek while on the go (like planning their safety preparation or in times of disaster). The Weather Channel and Google Maps teams invite developers to show off talents and ideas around the idea of safety.
At this 24-hour hackathon, you’ll get meals, snacks, caffeine and APIs, the chance to work with top developers and earn bragging rights. All you need to bring are your ideas and hacking skills. You’ll get tips from the maps and weather experts and you’ll hear about health-and safety-related impacts from the American Red Cross.
Developers or product managers – including students – who build for iOS, Android or web are invited to come and hack. Come with a team, or get teamed up at the event. Anyone can pitch an idea and anyone can develop or design.
