Celebrating Failure | Global Event Comes to Atlanta

by Tim Adkins

Get ready Atlanta, it’s about to go down. Literally. The global phenomenon Fuckup Nights is launching in Atlanta on October 15th at the all the Center for Civic Innovation.

FuckUp Nights is a global movement, active in over 150 cities across the globe, where stories of failed businesses and projects are told, questioned and celebrated.

Fuckup Nights Atlanta is a great alternative to the traditional pitch nights on the circuit. Ellen DeGeneres may have said it best when she simply stated, “It’s failure that gives you the proper perspective on success.”

To give you a little background, the first FuckUp Night happened in Mexico City in September 2012. Since then entrepreneurs and innovators gather every month to drink beer and listen to three to four stories about failure. In every FuckUp Night each speaker tells their story: What was the project? What went wrong? What did they learn? What would they do differently?

“We plan on having some incredibly diverse and entertaining speakers that represent the best Atlanta has to offer. Attendees will learn from failures of startup founders, social entrepreneurs, artists, and business and nonprofit leaders,” said Tim Adkins, Fuckup Nights Atlanta organizer.

Each speaker will tell their story in 10 images (each projected for 40 seconds) followed by a Q&A session, and at the end of the speakers stories, there will be an opportunity to network and share stories among attendees.

Jay Cranman, Fuckup Nights Atlanta organizer added, “The world is vast and infinite and people’s capacity for mistakes is even larger.  I was drawn to this because I think it will be a lot of fun, but also something important. Our goal isn’t to encourage failure, but through these stories we can change the conversation and discouraging the fear of failure.”

Supported from media partner Hypepotmus and venue sponsor Center for Civic Innovation, Fuckup Nights Atlanta will be one of the first monthly events to take place at the brand new innovation space.
