The Bitcoin Consumer Fair, the first event of its kind in Atlanta, will be kicking off on Friday, April 17th with a dinner party and reception. The next day is the main event with a free hash-brown breakfast and an interesting lineup of speakers (check out our favorites below) at the Loudermilk Conference Center. Oh, and the fair closes with a Disco Dance Party – cool right?
The event is geared toward both consumers and merchants who are interested in expanding the use of Bitcoin in the Atlanta area, as well as those interested in working on the business and technology side of Bitcoin. Atlanta was chosen as the first location for the Bitcoin Consumer Fair because of its large diverse population and the numerous financial technology companies that are either headquartered or have a strong presence within the city.
Our pick of the speaker litter:
- NCR Silver added functionality for Bitcoin late last year. Reggie Kimble will be speaking about the experience, why they made that decision and how to it has been received by merchants. The food truck at lunch will be using Bitpay and NCR Silver to accept Bitcoins for lunch.
- Tony Sakich is the man responsible for exposing the interest and acceptance of Bitcoin within the field of Entertainment. During his time as the Marketing Manager for BitPay, Tony worked with 50 Cent, Shooter Jennings, and Warner Bros. Records to accept Bitcoin. Currently, Tony is the Director of Marketing for Augur, and he will be discussing “Decentralization and Bitcoin in Entertainment and Why The World Needs A Decentralized Prediction Market.”
- Megan Burton, the CEO and Founder of CoinX, a company committed to mainstreaming applications to help with compliance, verification, and transaction monitoring, will be discussing the the future of banking.
