Flock Safety, the Atlanta-based tech company focused on public safety and crime prevention, has caught the attention of one of the world’s largest VC firms.
Tiger Global led Flock Safety’s recent $150 million Series E funding rounding, joined by 776 and Spark Capital. Existing investors a16z, Bedrock, Matrix, Meritech, and Initialized also joined the round.
This Series E brings Flock Safety’s investments to date to $380 million at a $3.5 billion valuation.
CEO Garrett Langley told Hypepotamus that Tiger Global’s expertise and “deep understanding of supply chain and operational efficiencies” made them the right partner for this moment in the company’s journey.
“As we’ve seen over the past few years, the world is filled with unknowns. In order to be certain that we can meet our audacious goals, we need to make long-term investments to insulate our business from unexpected fluctuations,” he added.
The Series E funding follows an Andreessen Horowitz-led $150 million Series D over the summer.
The team has grown to 350 after hiring 225 new full-time remote employees living in 35 states.
And the hiring won’t be slowing down, according to Langley. “Unfortunately, we know that crime is everywhere, and our intention is to provide a product suite and exceptional service that will allow law enforcement, businesses, and communities to truly eliminate crime,” he added. “And we need really smart, ethically-minded people from diverse backgrounds to make this possible. We need hardware, software, and machine learning engineers. We need installation technicians working remotely in every city in America. We need Success reps, marketers, project managers, and people with expertise in government affairs. It will take people, from all walks of life, and diverse places around the country to fulfill our mission.”
On the tech side, Flock Safety recently rolled out a gunshot audio detection device called Raven. That is on top of the team’s Falcon cameras, which have been installed in communities across the country.
“We’re thrilled that many of our early adopters and most avid customers have embraced the potential of audio crime detection paired with our powerful ALPR technology. We have many new products on the horizon that we look forward to sharing more about later this year,” Holly Beilin, Flock Safety’s Head of PR, told Hypepotamus.
