Join Atlanta eSports Companies to Power Up Charity Gaming Marathon

It’s time to break out the video games… #ForTheKids

You’ve heard of running a 5K for charity, but how about a charity video game marathon? With the mission to “Play Games, Heal Kids”, the non-profit Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world in a 24-hour gaming marathon (this year held November 4th) in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, the event has raised over $30 million for 170 hospitals.

This year, Atlanta eSports companies are teaming up to contribute in their own way. Ahead of the Extra Life event, performance gaming gear company KontrolFreek will host a 24-hour gaming stream on the social media gaming platform Twitch, which will also feature Atlanta-based gaming company Hi-Rez Studios and web connection optimization software client Haste.

For all this free content, viewers will be asked to donate to the Extra Life cause before and throughout the stream.

“As gamers and corporate citizens, we think it’s important to give back to our community,” says Matt Konigsmark, VP of Marketing at Haste. “Extra Life provides us with an amazing opportunity to do what we love (play games!) while also saving lives and making a difference. That’s a winning combination!”

KontrolFreek hopes to raise $5,000 that will be donated directly to Extra Life.
