Nightsprout’s: Trends & Culture

Nightsprout has been building and delivering user-friendly, next generation web applications since 2011.

Earlier this year we  caught up with founders Mitchell Lane (@mitchelllane) and Jason Bishop (@JSON_Bishop) to give you a rundown of Nightsprout, their inspiration, and their favorite tools. Check it out, and then continue reading below to learn how they stay on top of trends, build an ever evolving company culture, and what they need most right now.

Where do you gain your insights from and how do you stay on top of emerging trends?
Although we are newly-minted entrepreneurs, we are ultimately technologists: we love software and the internet. Like most developers, we turn to content aggregators like Hacker News and the Startups SubredditDribbble also has great content for designers or front end developers researching new or emerging UI/UX/IxD patterns. There are a lot of great local resources as well. We subscribe to the Hypepotamus newsletter which has been very helpful and we also regularly attend events at ATV and ATDC. And although the local technology community is larger than ever, it’s still very “close-knit” so our friends and colleagues often share ideas with us by word-of-mouth (or rather, by fingers-to-keyboard).

What’s Unique About Your Company Culture:
We feel that companies like GitHubZappos, and, locally, MailChimp have raised the standard of what can be accomplished with company culture. While our first priority is always to deliver great software to our clients, we are also interested in defining what the next evolution of company culture looks like. If you remove the concerns of time and money from the minds of talented engineers and designers, what could they create together? As our company scales this is the question we want to answer.

I would also be remiss in failing to mention how pivotal regular games of Smash Brothers Melee have proven in our professional development. 🙂

What You Need Most Right Now:
Right now, we are still in the stage of “getting our name out there” so our goal is to spread the word of Nightsprout! We want to meet other people in the community and potential clients who are interested in our approach to business, software development, and company culture. We’d appreciate it if you checked us out! Find us at http://www.nightsprout.com/ and don’t hesitate to contact us: admin@nightsprout.com. We’d love to hear from you.
