Let’s be honest — between multiple inboxes, social media and life events, it’s a miracle we get anything done. Getting your to-do list down to zero can often feel like a Rubik’s cube. Priorigami looks at your to-do list a little differently, it prioritizes your top 3 tasks for the day instead of listing 10+. You complete the top 3 tasks and feel instant euphoria (you did it!) and you can add more to keep that hustle going.
“My goal is to help people efficiently complete their tasks so they can spend more time on the things that really matter in life,” says Productivity101 founder Monisha Longacre. (Priorigami operates under the company’s umbrella)
After initial success following her March 2016 launch, Longacre started listening to her most active customers for feature feedback and released a big update recently. The new update includes syncing abilities, a graph of your complete tasks, and alerts on upcoming deadlines.
Longacre talks to Hypepotamus about why the Top 3 system works and the benefit of changing your productivity habits.
What’s your pitch?
Productivity 101 was founded to provide busy adults with easy-to-use tools and tips to help them become more productive. Getting things done doesn’t have to be overwhelming, it can be fun and rewarding and will enable people to spend more time on the things that really matter in life. priorigami: the art of productivity is designed to be the “Fitbit” for productivity. Not only does it store your tasks, it helps you get things done by helping you prioritize and complete tasks and track your progress along the way.
How’d you get the idea for it?
As our lives have become so much more hectic, demanding and complex, we strive to be more organized and productive but struggle with how to get everything done efficiently. I spent 25 years working in some very demanding roles in the corporate world. My husband is a traveling consultant and I am mom of two very active multi-sport student-athletes.
Somehow I had figured out how to juggle my work, family, school, sports and service work by developing my own proven methodology for tracking, prioritizing and managing tasks so nothing slipped through the cracks. I wanted to try to “package up” my system to help others who are struggling with the same challenge.
What are your top tips as CEO for productivity?
Why does your top 3 system work best?
My app is different from other task management apps in that it has several features designed to help you prioritize tasks and manage your list. The app will remind you at a set time every day to review your list and select your Daily Top Three priorities for the day. Throughout the day, you’ll get reminders to review your list and also to congratulate you on your progress. It’s much easier to focus on just three things and you’re much more likely to be successful than trying to tackle everything on your list at once. If you get your three tasks done, you can always add a few more and it always feels great to exceed your goal.
What kind of feedback have you received from your users?
Most people love the idea and the features of the app and say that it helps to have all their tasks in one place and getting reminders to review and prioritize their tasks. Their biggest challenge is changing their current processes and behavior to start using the app. Changing habits is hard but the reward system is what I’ve focused most of the new features on.
What’s your revenue model?
The app is currently free to build a user base and get as much user feedback as possible. Eventually I will move to the “Dropbox” model, where once you’ve hit a certain level of usage there will be a small recurring fee to store your data.
Who are your competitors and how do you stand out?
There are a lot of productivity tools out there but there’s no one good, solid solution. There are books and videos and consultants but busy people don’t have time for that. There are lots of task management apps out there but they are all digital versions of paper to-do lists. None of them help you get things done and make you feel good about your accomplishments. More specifically, priorigami isn’t just a to-do list, it prompts daily prioritization.
What’s next for priorigami?
We just released a new version of the app which includes the top requested features from our most active users. In the new version, you can:
- Access your list of completed tasks with a record of when they were completed
- Retrieve and sync tasks across iOS devices
- View a graph of tasks completed each day and see your average completion rate
- Select the sound you get when you complete a task
- Get alerts for upcoming deadlines and tasks that have been lingering on your task list for too long.
My goal for the next 3-6 months is to aggressively market the app to dramatically grow the fan base.
