Midwest Startup Moves SE | On Pace to Open New Mkt Every 20 Days

No matter what industry you’re in, there’s no doubt you’ve attended countless events. While trade shows and networking events are essential to any business, it’s no secret that they’re a crapshoot. When they’re worthwhile, you might meet a potential new client or learn about an innovative technology to assist your business. When they’re bad, there’s a laundry list of all too familiar reasons: the venue was too small, the speakers were boring, or perhaps most importantly, there wasn’t any booze! However, one of Chicago’s fastest growing startups, Kapow Events, opened their Atlanta office on February 1st and are looking to change the current state of affairs.

Founded by Marc Halpin (CEO), Dan McCormick (COO), and Michael Timpone (Strategic Partnerships), “Kapow Events is transforming the way companies engage with their clients, prospects and employees using the combination of an online marketplace with the expertise of a local event planner to facilitate unique events that help companies achieve specific business goals,” says the Kapow team. “In-person events are one of the most effective ways for companies to sell to their clients. Kapow was created to eliminate the time and headache spent trying to plan and host an engaging event on your own. At Kapow, we know that you already have a day job and don’t need to spend hours researching venues or even playing phone tag with an event planner. We’ve developed a platform that makes it easy to plan unique, interactive corporate events at the best venues in just a few clicks,” they explain.

Launched in the Windy City in 2012, Kapow has offices in New York City, Boston, Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and now Atlanta, to be led by Terry Phillips. They host hundreds of corporate events every month for some of the country’s largest and most established public and private companies such as Accenture, HP, CDW and Google. “Through our events, we’re transforming the way businesses engage with their clients, prospects and employees,” explain the founders. “Overall, this is a $565 billion industry with demand in almost every city. Right now, we’re on pace to open a new market every 20 days. We understand that many of our clients have offices across the country and we want to be able to service them no matter where they are.”

While there are other companies also working to achieve a similar goal, “We’ve found that our biggest competitor is the status quo and how things have always been done,” asserts the Kapow team. Even with their rapid growth, Kapow is proud to have a new office in Georgia’s capital. “Atlanta is home to both a vibrant entertainment and nightlife scene and a strong roster of companies such as The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Airlines, AT&T and Home Depot, making it the perfect target for Kapow. Atlanta allows us the opportunity to provide value to both the large companies headquartered in Atlanta and the startups growing within the tech scene,” they say. If you’re planning an event in the ATL, reach out to Kapow Events and stay posted as they continue to grow.
