In 2011 during her sophomore year in college at the University of Georgia as a marketing and fashion merchandising major, Michelle Blue, Benè Co-Founder, took a trip to Ghana for a study abroad program. This experience not only inspired Michelle to do more but also gave her the opportunity to study the culture and textiles of this incredible country while establishing a community trade with local vendors. Back in Georgia, Michelle shared her experiences with friend and now Co-Founder Sasha Matthews, a mathematics major at Florida A&M University & they decided to work together to make a positive difference. It was then that Bene was born.
