Here’s what happened last week:
Who is in building mode
It was a quiet week for the Southeast venture world, with little noise for companies announcing major rounds. But that doesn’t mean it has been a quiet week for the startup community. Here are the teams in growth mode right now:
* Atlanta-based fintech Carputty raised $80 million in new funds. The funds came from a combination of a $5 million new equity contributions from TTV Capital, Fontinalis Partners, Kickstart Fund, Kinetic Ventures, and Grand Ventures, and a $75 million warehouse facility with Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).
* North Carolina-based mobile car care service startup Spiffy acquired NuVinAir. The Texas-based company focuses on clean vehicle solutions. You can read more about the acquisition in GrepBeat.
* Birmingham, Alabama-based HData’s $10 million Series A financing round, led by Buoyant Ventures. HData, a Techstars-backed company, looks to automate compliance in the energy industry.
* Alpharetta-based cloud hosting provider Summit has acquired Chicago-based Deft, a data center service provider. Deft marks Summit’s third acquisition in 18 months.
* North Carolina welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month to an unveiling of its new NCInvest initiative. 10 VC firms from across the country have signed commitments to invest more than $90 million into NC startups. More from TriangleInno here.
* New Orleans Entrepreneur Week announced its lineup for its IDEApitch showcase, which is set for March 14. Those on stage will be:
Daryl Roy of 3D Media
Elizabeth Tilton of OS BENEFiTS
Claire Smith of Hilight
Barret Blondeau of Falaya
