The Graduate | A Startup Course

Starting in January 2015, Tech Talent South will be taking their Atlanta course offerings in a whole new direction with The Graduate Program. In this 8-week program students will ride the startup roller coaster, working as a team to execute and show-off their very own minimum viable product.

The Graduate Program is designed to give junior level developers and designers a portfolio building experience lead by an industry leader. Students are given an app idea project, then split into teams and tasked with organizing, planning, and executing app features culminating in a finished product presented at Demo Day.

Spring Session’s Instructor

TJ Muehleman, is a Georgia Tech grad that has been a developer for over 15 years. TJ cofounded both We & Co and Standard Code, and is a graduate of Flashpoint, Georgia Tech’s intensive startup engineering program.

TJ describes what to expect for Atlanta’s very first session of The Graduate Program:

It’s going to be a really cool blend of technology, marketing, and startup 101. We’ll work with students to not only understand what it takes to build an MVP on the tech and design side, we’ll also teach some basic customer discovery tactics, how to market it, and understanding business model basics.

We’ll teach them that speed and patience are a startup founder’s best friend. Those two qualities sometimes seem at odds with each other but for a product to be successful, you must quickly figure out what’s working and what’s not. But you also must be willing to be patient to see if your product has what it takes to be successful. Maybe the right descriptor is we’ll teach them to be stubborn.

REGISTRATION for the program is now open.
