September 16, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
RIoT is crafting our popular Developer Day event into a virtual month-long event series! Join us every Wednesday, 9am-1pm EST, during the month of September for FREE half day interactive workshops.
This week’s session focuses on Security and Reliability. Join to hear from:
9:00-9:30am – NC Business Council:
Sustainability-focused companies financially outperform their peers in almost every industry by an average of 15%. Global enterprises are implementing sustainable business practices not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because they can lower costs, reduce risk, and foster innovation. So how can average companies have the same success? Join Vicki Lee Parker-High, Executive Director of the North Carolina Business Council, for a workshop that gives a clear view of what sustainable business practices can accomplish for customer loyalty, employee increased productivity, efficiency in processes, and more. You’ll get tools to start putting an effective strategy into practice.
9:30-10:30am – Spanalytics:
Have you ever wondered what goes over the air between Bluetooth devices? Did you know that by looking at wireless traffic (not just TCP/IP or Internet traffic), you can spot security issues you might not otherwise see? Join Mark Nichols, President and Founder of Spanalytics and Bluetooth security expert, for an overview of how Bluetooth works, how security should work vs. some advertised vulnerabilities, and how to see all this with both commercial and open-source tools.
10:30-11:30am – Charlotte IoT:
From 3rd party vendors to systems and software, there are ample opportunities for outages in production, even for the best-written code. Join this session and learn from seasoned Staff Site Reliability Engineer Jeremy Proffitt, one of the co-organizers of Charlotte IoT, who is responsible for monitoring a multi-billion dollar dot com and is credited with Millions in revenue impact savings. Jeremy will discuss modern techniques to monitor not only your code, but hardware, services, and even vendors. Jeremy will introduce you to open source and commercial tools, their use cases, implementations, and the culture of resolving production impacting issues.
11:30am-12:30pm – Cisco:
IoT and Digitization continues to bring many opportunities for data collection and insights that offer many benefits.
