Jim Wasson, Ph.D., MBA, Growth Strategies International LLC


Dr. Jim Wasson is founder and President of Growth Strategies International, LLC (GSI) providing Technology Commercialization Consulting Services since 2010 to assist organizations in Strategic Planning, Business Development, R&D/Product Development, Project Management and Operations Management. Clients include the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Boeing, Honeywell, Qualcomm, Battelle, Bennett Aerospace, Orbital Research, Vital Strategies, University of South Carolina, Montana State University, etc.

Form Jan 2015 through Dec 2018, Jim was under contract to University of South Carolina (USC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) where he assisted entrepreneurs in launching new products into the market place and obtaining financing, including federal Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) grants and contracts. Jim is currently under contract to the Larta Institute as a Principal Advisor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Department of Energy (DOE) SBIR/STTR Commercialization Assistance Programs (CAP). He is also under contract to Montana State University TechLink Center as an SBA-Certified SBIR/STTR Consultant. Previously, he was a consultant to the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy SBIR/STTR Commercialization Readiness Programs (CRP).

Prior to GSI, Jim was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at BAE Systems Inc., Platform Solutions division, where he planned and directed new product development portfolio for 16 product lines, overseeing 600 engineers at 7 international locations. He also created and led the BAE Systems Innovation Venture. He has over 20 years of experience as Director/Manager of Engineering Technology, Program Management and Business Development at GE Aviation (then Smiths Aerospace) and the Boeing Company (then McDonnell Douglas). In addition to GSI, he founded and managed several high-technology small businesses still in operation today.
