STEM in Schools Workshop
March 12 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8:00am on Thursday, repeating until December 17, 2020
Kids Next Code is an organization founded by me, Travis A. Reeves, to expose students in underserved communities to STEM and technology related courses such as coding, robotics, and engineering. Since we first started in 2016, we have currently taught STEM related courses to over 700 students (ages 5-18) and adults in Georgia and New York. We have partnered with various organizations such as public libraries, parks and recreations, tech centers, schools, county jails, to name a few. You can learn more about my organization by visting our website at: www.kidsnextcode.com
The Stem in Schools program is an opportunity to partner with schools nationwide and implement STEM within the school systems. We provide the students with hands-on activities and learning materials such as coding, robotics, and engineering study guides, coding tutorial books, and coding tutorial videos to help train them in these STEM related subjects. Students will learn the fundamentals and concepts involved in robotics, web design, mobile app design, and engineering. From there, they will work in teams to apply the lessons they learned to creating technology solutions. The students will have an opportunity to collaborate, brainstorm, and design solutions such as websites, programmable robots, apps, etc., that solve community problems.
This workshop is intended to enrich students in STEM and technology education and teach them how to apply collaboration and critical thinking skills. We will provide the students with studyguides and learning material. We will also have prizes for the team that produces the best solution.
We also provide training for adults wishing to implement this program within their organization. Upon your request, we will come to your school and train your staff on how to implement and faciliate a Coding, Robotics, and Engineering workshop to students.
Location – TBA.
