State of the Atlanta Black Tech [STARTUP] Ecosystem

August 7 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Ecosystem = a community of entities in conjunction with their environment, interacting as a system.

The goal of the Atlanta Black Tech ecosystem is to improve the quantity and quality of Africans/African-Americans in Metro Atlanta’s tech community.

The objective for the “State of Atlanta Black Tech Ecosystem” series is to show how we are performing relative to our potential while using other cities as a benchmark.

In April 2017, a group of people were concerned about the state of the Atlanta Black Tech Ecosystem. We recognized there more people of color than ever before in the ecosystem, but we weren’t as connected as we should be.

So in May 2017, we held the first-ever State of the Atlanta Black Ecosystem meeting to develop a common understanding of where we stood, and where we could go. 400+ people packed into The Gathering Spot on a Monday night as they heard from several notable people from all parts of the ecosystem (startup, corporate, K-12, and government).

Though we’re still a little concerned, we’re happy with the progress made over the last year. But what has been done? Where we do currently sit, and how do we stack up to not only our potential, but other cities?

In 2019, we’ll be producing a series of quarterly “State fo Atlanta Black Tech” events. Each one will focus on a different aspect of the ecosystem: startup, corporate, K-12, and government. This edition will shine a spotlight on the Atlanta Black Tech Startup Scene. Join us.
