HBS Coffee, Lunch & Learn
September 1 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Harvard Black Alumni Society – Atlanta Chapter, is hosting a “Coffee, Lunch and Learn” featuring Dr. Raphael Bostic, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Dr. Bostic is the first African American president among the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks. According to the late Congressman John Lewis, “Atlanta is the cradle of the Civil Rights movement, so it is only fitting that our city be home to the first African-American head of a Federal Reserve Bank.”
Dr. Bostic brings a unique perspective to the role of the Federal Reserve Bank. He believes that the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and the Federal Reserve more generally, can play an important role in helping to reduce racial inequities and bring about a more inclusive economy.
Dr. Bostic previously worked in the Obama Administration as the assistant secretary for policy development at HUD and is currently responsible for all of the Atlanta Fed’s duties, including monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and payment services. He also serves on the Federal Open Market Committee, the monetary policymaking body of the Federal Reserve System.
Dr. Bostic graduated from Harvard College in 1987 with a combined major in economics and psychology, and is currently on the Board of Overseers at Harvard. He earned his doctorate in economics from Stanford University in 1995.
