Free Crash Course on iOS dev
January 4, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Heard about app development but don’t have experience with writing code of any kind? This is the class for you!
The Iron Yard presents this iOS Crash Course for non-developers, instructed by our iOS Mobile instructor T.J. Usiyan. You’ll discover what Swift is and how it fits into the iOS development ecosystem. With that context, we’ll cover the practical basics of programming with Swift.
– data types and type inference
– constants vs. variables
– flow control and scope
– logic, equality and arithmetic
We’ll do a hands-on workshop where we’ll do some actual coding together.
If you want to try writing the programs, you’ll need a Mac with the latest MacOS, though you can sit in on the class without it! You will use the Xcode IDE to work on the code exercises. To get a free copy of Xcode, simply open the Mac App Store app on your Mac and search for “Xcode”. The download is quite large, so be sure to get it installed before you come to the campus so we can get started promptly at 12:40 after brief introductions.
Lunch will be provided
